Weekend Recap

I spent the weekend in SC celebrating the marriage of Caroline and Kent. I flew in on Friday night and headed straight to Wachesaw Plantation for a party. It was a fun night catching up with old friends who I hadn't seen in a while and spending time with family.
Saturday was a pretty low key day before heading to the church and then Caledonia for the reception. I loved the wreaths hanging from the trees, their cake, and color scheme. We spent the evening dancing the night away before sending the newlyweds off.
Congrats you two!

The Friday Five

1. What I'm Reading:
The equivalent of a chick flick.
From Amazon: Newly single, Tilly Cole impulsively accepts a job offer in a small town as a "Girl Friday." Fun job, country house, fresh start, why not? But soon she finds herself in a hotbed of gossip, intrigue, and rampant rivalry for the town's most desirable bachelor-Jack Lucas. Rumors of Jack's "love 'em and leave 'em" escapes abound, and Tilly decides to do the mature, sensible thing... avoid Jack at all cost. But the more time Tilly spends with Jack, the more the rumors just don't make sense. Tilly doesn't know what to believe... and Jack's not telling.

2. What I'm Eating:

I have been on a ginger snap kick lately.
Fun Fact: They were my horse's favorite treat.

3. What I'm Listening to:
"Anything Could Happen" by Ellie Goudling
My theme song for this year.

4. What Recipe I'm Bookmarking:
Spring is here coming! It's not Spring when it is 30 degrees.

5. What Pins I'm Loving:
Which is what I will be doing this weekend in SC!

Happy Friday!

Fun Facts Friday

1) I am loving the extra hours of daylight in the evening. I feel like I actually get to enjoy the day now.

2) On the flip side, waking up in the mornings has been tough but I am holding strong with my 7am Bible study for Lent.

3) 3 words: Mini Cadbury Eggs. I found a recipe for Spring Blondies that uses them and want to make it for Easter.

4) Speaking of Easter, this is the first time in my life that I will not be at home/with family for the weekend. We always have a big lunch after church with close friends and family. It is probably one of my favorite meals of the year - right up there with Thanksgiving.

5) I wanted to recreate the tradition up here but after being turned down by the 10th person I invited to my Easter Lunch, I am thinking I will just scrap the idea.

6) I am officially a member of the Junior League of Washington. I finally crossed off my last requirement on Wednesday night.

7) American Idol is filming at my high school today! One of the contestants, Candice Glover, is from Beaufort and they are already saying she is the one to beat. You go girl!

8) The engagement and pregnancy announcements are getting out of hand. I know of 4 couples who have gotten engaged in the past week - one close friend, two girls from Wofford, and Sean and Catherine from the Bachelor (figured I might as well throw that one in there as well). And, two of my favorite bloggers are expecting.

9) These are my thoughts on the craziness mentioned above:
I'm pretty sure she prefaced this by saying she just wanted to drink wine.

10) Happy Friday!

Lately

I spent Saturday organizing the donations for the Junior League's Annual Tossed and Found Sale. I have never seen so much stuff and wish I had taken a before picture. They have some great items though and I would highly recommend going to the sale next weekend.
The Laffitte family grew once again over the weekend. Caroline and Tucker welcomed their first child, Louisa Sims Laffitte. I can't wait to meet her!
I got my car serviced and the date for my next oil change is my birthday. I don't know why I was entertained by that.
They planted the daffodils at the park across the street from work which means spring is on the way!
I made the Creamy Garlic Shells Rigatoni and I used store bought pasta (gasp!). It was still delicious but I need to figure out how best to store my homemade pasta so I can keep some on hand.
And these are just a few things that have been happening lately.

Fun Facts Friday

1) I am currently reading The House at Tyneford and highly recommend it. I borrowed it from Carey Beth and let it sit on my bedside table for weeks before I finally opened it. Now that I started reading it, I can't put it down. I am hoping to finish it this weekend but will be sad when it ends.
2) Thankfully, my mom gave me the third season of Downtown Abbey when I was home last weekend, so I don't have to leave the time period just yet.

3) My left eye has been twitching for the last two days. I googled it and the 8 causes of eye twitching are stress, tiredness, eye strain, caffeine, alcohol, dry eyes, nutritional imbalances, and allergies. I'm pretty sure at least 6 of those apply to me.

4) We are having plumbing issues in our kitchen. The sink is backing up into the dishwasher and vice versa. Such a first world problem but it is hard to cook if you can't wash dishes. I am hoping the plumber fixes it today so I can bake this weekend.

5) I pinned this recipe the other day and can't wait to make it.
6) Snowquester was a completely miss in the city. It only rained. I guess I should be thankful that the past two times they have called for extreme weather, it has ended up being nothing but I was looking forward to the snow.

7) I had the best time at home last weekend seeing the fam and catching up with one of my college roommates. I can't wait to be back in SC in two weeks for Caroline and Kent's wedding.

8) Don't forget to turn your clocks forward this weekend.

9) Happy Friday!

March Madness

I didn't mean to go radio silent, life and work have just been super busy lately. I spent the weekend in SC and while I am certainly feeling refreshed, I can't seem to catch up. While the rest of DC enjoyed a rainy day off yesterday because of the snowstorm, I spent a solid 10 hours working. I will try to be better about blogging but my next four weeks are jammed pack with travels and other activities.

  • March 17-20 Richmond
  • March 22-25 South Carolina
  • March 28 DC Event
  • March 31-April 3 Nashville
  • April 3-4 Chicago
  • April 5 Much needed day off
  • April 5-8 May Lo and Mom visit

It really is March Madness. I am setting my sights on April 5th.
